Finished "Fanfare"

Finished "Fanfare" by Renee Ahdieh. Such a delightful novel. It was such a pleasure to record. I feel like the characters became friends. I'm a little sad to let it go. It will be available soon on Audible.com.

In short, it is about a young (funny, wry, and slightly cynical) young woman meets a movie star in passing, and the circumstances align in such a way that a friendship develops.  Who has not entertained this fantasy at one time or another?? (if only George Clooney got to know me....I'm sure he'd really like me...)

I won't spoil it by saying more. Suffice it to say that it is very well written, fresh, and very satisfying.....

Killer in the Woods; A Psychological Thriller

Had my production of "Killer in The Woods" by R. Barri Flowers approved today by the ACX (Audible's production platform)! It should be available for sale on iTunes, Audible, and Amazon by early next week.  It is set in an upscale neighborhood of the Pacific Northwest, where a mysterious killer is strangling young attractive women. The neighbors rally together to create a neighborhood watch to try to catch the killer. But what if the killer is one of them?

Started new book today

Today I began recording a new book for Books In Motion. It is "A Picture of Guilt" by Libby Fischer Hellmann, published by Penguin. I'm about an hour in, and so far it is fun. The writing is very solid and the characters are very distinct. I am switching to this book for now, as there is a deadline on it, and then I'll go back and finish  "Medicine in Translation". That one has so many dialects to research that I feel I need to take my time. Best to get this one back first and then be able to take more time with the other.

Loving the New Equipment

I am really having a blast with the new equipment. ProTools 9.0.2 is so fast and (knock wood) completely glitch free! What a pleasure. The sound quality is incredible.

I am working on "Medicine in Translation" right now. As the title suggests it deals with non native English speakers so I am in dialect hell or heaven depending on the day!! It is really a challenge, so I am taking my time, using all of my dialect resources, and just trying to have fun.

Books In Motion informs me there is another project on the way from them, so I will look forward to whatever challenges that presents next.......

New Equipment and New Website All in One Day!

Today was the day I pulled the trigger and ordered a new studio computer and the newest ProTools software and interface! It coincidentally was the day that my website was completed. I think fate works in strange ways. I have to give a shout out to the great tech support and sales staff at Sweetwater. I highly recommend them. Lifetime tech support. That's what I'm talking about!!! And they mean it too. I surely have gotten my money's worth over the years. I can't wait to get my new toys!!

Several Books Moving Through

I'm grateful to report that I have had several books moving through my studio lately. I just finished one called "Alcohol" in a Chelsea House Series called Understanding Drugs. It will be available for purchase on Audible soon.

Now I am working on "Curiosity Kills" by Linda Roberts for Books In Motion. It is a mystery novel set in Butte, Montana about mysterious happenings around an old copper mine. Look for that one at Booksinmotion.com in coming months.

Next in the lineup is what looks like a really interesting read: "Medicine in Translation, Journeys with My Patients" by Danielle Ofri. She is a doctor working at Bellevue in NYC. She works with people really living on the edge of society, including patients in the Survivors of Torture program. Gritty stuff. Very compelling. This one is for University Press Audiobooks.
